Beneficial to both adults and children alike, orthodontics will correct bite and the positioning of your teeth. Orthodontics will dramatically improve the aesthetic appearance of your smile as well as the structural nature of your teeth.

Orthodontics is not merely for improving the aesthetics of the smile; orthodontic treatment improves "malocclusion", meaning "bad bite". Issues may include crowded teeth, extra teeth, missing teeth, or jaws that are out of alignment. Most issues are inherited although some may result from an accident, early or late loss of baby teeth, or prolonged sucking of the thumb or fingers.

According to studies by the Australian Association of Orthodontics, untreated malocclusions can result in a variety of problems. Crowded teeth are more difficult to properly brush and floss, which may contribute to tooth decay and/or gum disease. Protruding teeth are more susceptible to accidental chipping. Cross bites can result in unfavourable growth and uneven tooth wear. Open bites can result in tongue-thrusting habits and speech impediments. Ultimately, orthodontics does more than make a pretty smile - it creates a healthier you.
